Critical use of AI-based technologies in Research and Education

In today's rapidly evolving landscape, AI-based technologies are expected to automate over 27% of current employment. As a doctoral researcher, you might have already experimented with chatbots such as ChatGPT and CoPilot, contemplating both their potential benefits and inherent limitations in research and educational activities.

Rather than focusing on technical aspects of AI tools, you will learn how to use these tools while maintaining academic integrity, evaluate their ethical implications, and understand the legal ramifications of their application in research and teaching.

While prompt engineering is a useful skill, this course goes beyond basic tips and tricks by leveraging the latest research on AI in higher education. It aims to equip you with the ability to make informed decisions about these tools. The course encourages you to actively engage with the material and develop a critical understanding of AI's role in academia.

Throughout the course, you will be encouraged to test various AI tools in your current research projects and critically assess their effectiveness and impact. This hands-on approach will not only enhance your understanding but also enable you to evaluate the practical utility of AI technologies in your academic endeavors.
